Lagos - An Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates'
Court in Lagos on Monday remanded one Emmanuel Akintan in prison custody over
the alleged murder of his friend, Tunde Biobaku.
Chief Magistrate B.O. Ope-Agbe gave the order at the
arraignment of Akintan who allegedly murdered Biobaku by stabbing him with a
broken bottle on his left hand.
Ope-Agbe ordered that the accused be remanded in Ikoyi
prison pending receipt of legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution
The accused, 23, was arraigned on a charge of murder.

The Prosecutor, Sgt. Jimoh Iseghede, told the court that the
offence was committed on Dec. 9, 2015, at about 6.00 p.m. at Egan-Igando, a
The prosecutor alleged that Biobaku died as result of the
wounds on his left hand from a broken bottle.
Iseghede said the offence contravened Section 221 of the
Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
Being a murder case, the plea of the accused was not taken.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the accused
may be sentenced to life imprisonment if convicted.
