Army calls for calm amid insecurity in Borno

31 December 2015, 08:42Augustine Osayande

Abuja - Security forces have advised residents in Borno State to remain vigilant in the wake of fears of a recurrence of Boko Haram's terror attacks.

The special military unit steering the Operation Lafiya Dole thus reassured residents of Jiddari, Polo, Ali Dawari environs and the general public to remain calm and go about their normal business.

Colonel Mustapha Anka Media Coordinator Operation Lafiya Dole, the Army's unit to eliminate insurgency, gave the assurance.

He said the military and other security agencies were working vigorously at ensuring adequate security and protection of lives and property.

Anka urged the residents to report any suspicious action to the nearest security agent.

The advice comes on the back of deadly suicide bomb attacks in Maiduguri and Madagali where about 100 people were killed during an attack in a mosque and market respectively.
