13 April 2016, 21:41

Abuja - The army is currently conducting a Field Training Exercise (FTX) in Kaduna and Bauchi States ahead of the 2016 Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL).

The exercise will run until Wednesday next week.

“The conduct of the exercise will start with the massing up of troops in Bauchi and Kachia and later culminate in a simulation exercise at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC),” Col. Sani Usman Kushasheka, said.

The Army spokesman urged members of the public not to panic on sighting routine convoy of troops along Road Kaduna-Kachia–Bauchi and the general area of Alkaleri Forest in Bauchi State.

He also advised the people to go about their normal activities during the period of the field training exercise.

The Nigerian Army Day is an annual event typically held on 6 July in honor of members of the Nigerian Army, especially those that took part in the World War I and World War II as well as those that lost their lives during the Nigerian Civil War and the current serving member of the Nigerian Army.
