Abuja - Gunmen have reportedly killed a Major of the Nigerian Army in a restive area in the Rivers State.
CAJ News Africa sources said the senior Army official (name withheld) was shot dead in Abonnema, Akuku-Toru local government area on Thursday afternoon.
“The details of the killing remain sketchy. Full details will be made public as soon as they are available,” a source said.

Comment had not been obtained from the Army and police.
Violence has beset the oil-rich state ahead of re-run elections set for Saturday.
Governor Nyesom Wike’s People’s Democratic Party and the All Progressives Congress have traded blame.
