Abuja - The Nigerian Army says that it will investigate all avenues in the alleged coup d'etat plot against President Muhammadu Buhari to overthrow his administration, Punch reports.
The army released a statement saying that it would indeed be investigating the claims and any possible motives behind it.
News24 Nigeria reported that military groups claimed that high-ranking army officials had approached them saying that plans were in place to stage a coup against the Buhari administration.

Army officials also allegedly encouraged the militants to continue their attacks on oil installations in the Niger Delta region as it would cause more chaos.
The Army's first reaction to the speculation was to dismiss them as baseless and most unfortunate, but have now changed their tune and seem to be taking the allegations more seriously.
