Assassins hack couple to death, kidnap three children

18 August 2016, 08:37

Abuja - Pandemonium took over the Okwelle community in Imo State after a couple was murdered by suspected assassins, Punch reports.

The assailants, who are said to have stormed the couple's house wielding cutlasses on Saturday, allegedly took turns raping the female victim while making her children and husband watch.

The men then proceeded to hack the couple to death before abducting their three children.

The Imo State Police Command has confirmed the incident, although they have admitted that the reason for the attack has yet to ascertained.

A resident in the community, who spoke on condition of anonymity, has since revealed that the murder may be the work of a woman who had a quarrel with the deceased male in the lead-up to the incident.

No arrest have been made in the matter thus far.
