Auditors urged to join fight against graft

24 February 2016, 19:01Emeka Okonkwo

Abuja - Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, has called for increased partnerships to curb such crimes in the country.

He thus called for synergy between the Commission and the Association of Chief Audit Executives of Banks in tackling corruption in Nigeria.

“We are all stakeholders as far as the anti graft war is concerned. Therefore, we must find a way to work together as both auditors and investigators do the same thing,” Magu said.

Magu spoke as he hosted members of the Association of Chief Audit Executives of Banks in Nigeria (ACAEBIN).

The members paid him a courtesy visit at the Commission's Head office in Abuja.

Chairman of ACAEBIN, Ajobola Dawodu, commended the commission for its current efforts in the fight against corruption.

He appealed for the EFCC’s intervention in the areas of capacity building, creating effective liaison at its zonal offices and help to track fraud suspects.

“The association meets quarterly and it will be nice to have a representative of EFCC join, as a way to foster relationship and strengthen the fight against corruption,” said Dawodu
