Avengers accuse APC of plot to remove Ikpeazu

06 July 2016, 06:30

Lagos - The Niger Delta Avengers yesterday accused the All Progressives Congress of plotting to remove Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State, to replace him with Uche Ogah who is loyal to the party, Vanguard reports.

The militant group said that it was closely watching the developments in Imo state, communicating this through its new Twitter account that it opened after it previous account was suspended.

The militants said that although their Twitter account was shut down, its struggle in its fight against the Federal Government would not be shut down.

The Avengers added that the only way peace could be restored to the Niger Delta region would be if the government initiated a referendum which would determine the fate of Nigeria.

News24 Nigeria reported that Twitter suspended the account of the Niger Delta Avengers, after the group's announcement on the social media site that it had carried out five attacks on key oil installations recently.

A spokesman for the company said that the Avengers' account was suspended due to the company's strict policies against terrorism or the promotion of terrorism.
