07 September 2016, 16:17

Katsina - A Katsina Senior Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday directed that a middle-aged man, Babangida Yusuf, be remanded in prison custody till October 13 when the case of kidnap and extortion levelled against him and two others would come up for mention, Punch reports.

The magistrate, AbdulKareem Umar, gave the directive after the court heard that the legal advice on the case was still being awaited from the state’s ministry of justice.

The police prosecutor, Hashimu Musa, told the court that Babangida, a.k.a. “Beti” of Kidanda village in the Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State, along with Suleiman Abubakar and Usman Shagari (both of Yadi village) in the same LGA, but who are now at large, jointly kidnapped one Alhaji Saleh Buda of Janda village in the Danja Local Government Area of Katsina State on March 2.

The court according to breakingnews was further told that the fourth member of the gang, Dahiru Yusuf, was lynched by members of the community at the place they were supposed to collect the ransom placed on Buda.
