Makurdi - The Benue state government has sacked the local government caretaker chairmen in the 23 local government areas of the state, Premium Times reports.
The decision to relieve the caretaker Charimen of their appoint was taken Wednesday at the end of the weekly State Executive Council, SEC, meeting presided over by Governor Sanule Ortom in Makurdi.
The Commissioner for Information, Odey Ageh, said the SEC also directed the outgoing Chairmen to hand over to their respective Directors General Service and Administration, DGSA.
One of the affected council chairmen, according to Vanguard, who did not want to be named, said they had been informed ahead of the sack to handover all government properties including officials cars in their possession to Director Generals, Local Government Administration and Service unfailingly by Thursday.
Local govt elections in the state are expected to hold in September.
