Biafra youth congress to proceed despite threats

01 April 2016, 20:44

Abuja - Deputy President of Biafra Nations Youth League, Ebuta Victor Takon, is defiant ahead of the organisation’s forthcoming congress in Obudu, Cross River State.

“I am prepared for any challenges, but I would advise those arresting activists anyhow to always apply caution or create troubles for themselves. Biafra is not a criminal activities only that few use our name for criminal activities,” said Takon.

His sentiments come days after he was arrested under unclear charges and later released.

The arrest has been linked to alleged intimidation of proponents for the independence of Biafra from Nigeria by state security.

“Biafrans should not panic over my issue.  Security watch or no security watch, they won’t stop us. We will go ahead with our congress in Obudu with Bakassi Peninsula refugees and other Biafra youths on the 9th of April, 2016,” said Takon.
