Borno receives assurance on provision of facilities

Abuja - The Governor of Borno State, Alhaji Kashuim Shetimma, has appealed for support to build of facilities that would help engage youth and discourage them from engaging in acts of terror.

Shettima made the appeal following a meeting with Acting Secretary of Programmes, Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), Ochapa Ogenyi.

He solicited support towards building mega schools, hospitals and training centers to enable them engage most of the youths that were idle and jobless.

Shettima was hopeful MDGs will consider Borno as most deserving state for infrastructural development in view of the destruction made by the insurgents.

The state has borne the biggest brunt of terror perpetrated by Boko Haram.

Ogenyi meanwhile pledged increased partnership with the Borno State Governments in rehabilitating victims of the Boko Haram insurgency in the state.

He said such support wouldbe in the areas covered by the MDGs such as schools/healthcare centers, rehabilitation, reconstruction and reintegration as well as provision of portable water.

Meanwhile, the governor praised the efforts of the government of President Muhammadu Buhari in fighting insurgency.
