BREAKING: Again, Buhari meets Dogara over budget padding

19 August 2016, 17:10

Abuja - President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday met with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, reports Punch

This is the second meeting between the  duo since the allegation of budget padding was leveled against Dogara and some principal officers by Abdulmumin Jibrin.

Dogara did not, however, disclose the purpose of his visit when approached by State House correspondents.

He said, “I am on holiday.

When further asked if his visit was part of efforts aimed at mending fences with the President, the Speaker pointed to one of the lawmakers that accompanied him and said, “This man is a Senator from Bauchi State. He is not from the House of Representatives.”

Buhari had on August 5 met with Dogara over the allegations according to News 24

Dogara after the meeting said he would not resign to pave way for thorough investigation of the allegations as being canvassed by some individuals and groups.

He said with his experience as a lawyer and a federal lawmaker of many years, he has never heard padding as being an offence under the law.
