EFCC agents ready to pounce on Fani-Kayode

06 May 2016, 20:41

Abuja - Agents from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have surrounded the Abuja home of former Spokesman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Organisation, Femi Fani-Kayode, raising suspicion he would be arrested before Monday.

He was initially scheduled to honour an invitation to visit the agency over alleged corruption charges on Monday.

It emerged on Friday EFCC had sent him a letter of invitation to report to the anticorruption agency next week.

He said he honoured the invitation, only for the agents of the EFCC to swarm his house late on Friday.

“Can someone please tell me why they are at my gate? They can't even wait because they want to detain me so badly and keep me away for the weekend,” Fani-Kayode bemoaned.

He fears he might spend the weekend in detention.

Fani-Kayode on Thursday denied reports that he is hiding from the EFCC.

He is wanted for questioning for allegedly stealing N840 million from former Finance Minister, Nenadi Usman.

The money is said to have been corruptly sourced to fund the then-ruling PDP election campaign.
