Benin City - Wife of Central Bank of Nigeria ( CBN) Governor, Margaret Emefiele, kidnapped on Thursday night has been released by her abductors, reports Thisday.
She was released in the early hours of Saturday in Ugoneki near Benin City .
According to family sources she was rescued due to the gallantry of the Armed Forces, Police and Security Forces.
She is currently recuperating in Government House, Asaba.
It is not clear whether any ransom was paid for her release.
News 24 had reported that the kidnappers had demanded N1.5 billion before her release.
In addition to Margaret Emefiele, four other people were abducted including two other females, a male, and her driver.
It was gathered that Margaret Emefiele had a four-man police detail attached to her. However, when the police were confronted with the superior firepower of the kidnappers they ran away, leaving her and the other victims in the hands of the criminals.
