London - Former governor of Delta State, James Onanefe Ibori has been released from prison.
Ibori according to The Authority was released a few minutes past noon on Wednesday upon a court order.
Ibori's release has been confirmed by his media aide,Tony Elumenor.
Ibori was sentenced by a United Kingdom court to prison for 13 years and served out his term midnight on Tuesday.
Expectation of his return home to Nigeria to celebrate Chrismas, however, remains skeptical .
A close associate of Ibori, who was also the Commissioner for Transportation in the last administration, Ben Igbakpa, said Ibori had said he would not celebrate Christmas at home.
Igbakpa according to the Nation noted that Ibori had issued a statement to the fact that he’s not coming for Christmas.
Ibori was earlier released in February 2016 after completing his prison terms.
He was, however, immediately re-arrested to face another charge.
