08 September 2016, 19:00

Abuja - President Muhammadu Buhari has denied summoning editors of Nigerian newspapers for a meeting on Friday at the Presidential Villa.

An online medium, Sahara Reporters had reported that the editors were invited for a security briefing.

The invitation according to the news site was signed by presidential spokesman Femi Adesina and was sent to the editors of all newspaper titles, magazines and periodicals, as well as their managing directors and editors-in-chief.

It was reported that the Presidency will cover the travel, accommodation and feeding expenses of the invitees.

Buhari, has, however come out to deny the report.

Buhari, who spoke through his Senior Special Adviser on Media, Garba Shehu, said he has not scheduled any meeting with the Nigerian editors.

Shehu in a series of tweets on Thursday said Friday's meeting with the editors was called by the Media Office of the Presidency.
