Abuja – President Muhammadu Buhari has reportedly approved the sacking of John Kennedy Opara as the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission.
According to Daily Post, a statement by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir David Lawal, revealed that the decision was with effect from Thursday, May 19, 2016.
Buhari thanked Opara for his "invaluable services to the nation".
A Premium Times report indicated that Opara was removed from office two years before the expiration of his tenure in June 2018.
Opara was appointed in 2008 by the Shehu Musa Yar’dua-led administration, for an initial tenure of five years.
He was reappointed by former president Goodluck Jonathan in June 2013 for a second and final tenure, the report said.
