Buhari receives budget, awaits advice before signing

06 May 2016, 06:39

Abuja - President Muhammadu Buhari has received the long-awaited 2016 budget document, although many have speculated that he will not sign the Appropriation Bill into law until he has consulted with his ministers.

According to Punch, Buhari, along will his ministers, are set to thoroughly assess the fiscal document once again before the signing would take place.

The decision of whether or not Buhari will sign the amended budget lies with Budget Minister, Senator Udo-Udoma, who will present the President with his findings and advise him further.

Senate leader Ali Ndume has indicated hopes that the budget would finally be signed into law today (Friday), although many remain sceptical.

The 2016 Budget Appropriation Bill has left the country reeling, after various inconsistencies were found within the document, along with incorrect allocations and padding that had to be rooted out before the document could find itself in the hands of the President, once again.
