Buhari states Nigeria suddenly a poor country

Abuja - President Muhammadu Buhari has stated that Nigeria has suddenly become a poor country as a result of the drop in price of oil, Punch reported.

According to Buhari, the nation has been in the dark in regards to the severe shortage in the country of which his administration is to blame for the handling of resources.

Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, states that the president had been speaking to the Under Secretary General of the United Nations, Babatunde Osotimehin at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Buhari futher said "suddenly we are poor country but commitment to transparency and accountability is not making people know that there is shortage".

According to the president the price of petrol is suddenly more expensive than what it was before his administration came into office.

The UN has been thanked for its commitment in saving the lives of Nigerians.

Beginning of the year the country due to the sudden oil price plunge, Nigerians have had to deal with the increase in the cost of living.
