Abuja - President Muhammadu Buhari has met with the Senate President, Bukola Saraki and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara over the 2016 budget details submitted by the National Assembly for his assent.

Buhari summoned the meeting before he left for China on Sunday on a state visit.

During the meeting, Buhari confronted the leadership of the National Assembly with details of distortions orchestrated by the lawmakers in the budget and asked them to urgently address them in the interest of the nation.

The meeting, which took place at the Presidential Villa, also had in attendance Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and members of the Federal Executive Council (FEC).

Buhari told the leadership of the National Assembly that he did not like some of the changes which the lawmakers made to the budget, with regards to the removal of funds meant for major national projects.

He asked the National Assembly to take back the 2016 budget and add the important projects which they removed.
