21 April 2016, 15:27

Abuja - The Service Chiefs and the National Security Adviser (NSA), Babagana Mungunu on Wednesday shunned the invitation of the Senate to appear and brief the upper chamber on efforts of the government to rescue the Chibok schoolgirls abducted two years ago.

Only the Inspector- General of Police (IGP) Solomon Arase and the Director-General of the Department of State Security (DSS), Lawal Daura, were in attendance.

There was however, no official explanation with respect to the absence of the Security Chiefs  and the NSA from the meeting with the Senate.

It would be recalled that the Senate had on Thursday summoned the Service Chiefs to appear before it in a closed door session to explain the ongoing anti-terror fight in the North-east and rescuing of the abducted shool girls abducted on April 14, 2014.
