Couple arrested, arraigned for impersonating Tinubu

Lagos - A couple has been remanded in prison custody for allegedly impersonating former Governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu to commit fraud, Vanguard reports.

The couple Abioye Junaid, 41, and Fausat Junaid, 39, were remanded by an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court sitting in Lagos on Thursday.

They are facing trial on an eight-count charge bordering on conspiracy, fraud, stealing and impersonation.

The prosecutor, DSP Charles Odii, told the court that the couple and others still at large conspired and committed the alleged offences between October 2014 and December 2015, at their residence, No. 7 Ayeola St., Oke Balogun, Epe, Lagos.

The defendants according to Nation, denied the charge and their counsel, Emmanuel Bayen, urged the court to admit them to bail on liberal terms.

Sholadoye granted them N2 million bail each with two sureties each in the like sum.

The court remanded the defendants in prison until they meet the bail conditions and adjourned till August 26 for mention.
