Lagos - An Ejigbo Senior Magistrates' Court in Lagos on Wednesday remanded a 26-year-old man, Idowu Ade, in prison custody for allegedly attempting to rape a nine -year-old girl.
The Magistrate, A.A. Adeyemi, remanded the accused after he pleaded guilty to a one-count charge of attempted rape of a minor.
Adeyemi ordered that the accused should be remanded in custody at the Kirikiri Prisons, Apapa and adjourned the case to December 14, for facts and sentencing.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Femi Adeleye, told the court that the accused, who was of no fixed address, on November 9, in the Shasha Area in Lagos, attempted to rape the girl.
"The accused lured the child out of her house and took her to the back of the building to have canal knowledge of her," he said.
The prosecutor added that the offence contravened Section 260 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
