25 January 2016, 13:08

Abuja - A Federal High Court has adjourned ruling to January 29 on the bail application filed by the director of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, reports Channels TV.

At the resumed hearing of the treasonable charges against Kanu on Monday, the presiding judge, Justice Tsoho adjourned for a ruling on an application filed by Kanu on January 14.

At the hearing on Monday, Kanu, through his counsel, told the court that the offense for which he was standing trial was a bailable one.

However, the Director of Public Prosecution, who represented the Federal Government, urged the court to refuse bail on the grounds that the offence for which Kanu and his co-accused were standing trial was a serious offense.

He told the court that if Kanu was granted bail, the accused would interfere with witnesses and evidence.

After listening to the two parties, the trial judge fixed the ruling on the bail application for January 29.

Justice Tsoho had on Wednesday, January 20 ordered that Kanu be remanded in Kuje prison pending hearing on his bail application on January 25
