Organisations of Nigeria (NOCSON) has deplored the attack on the convoy of the Edo
State Deputy Governor, Pius Odubu.
Kola Edokpayi, Publicity Secretary of NOCSON, described the
recent ambush by political thugs as “animalistic” and “malicious” after a
policeman, an operative of the Department of State Services and three other
persons sustained various injuries in the clash.
The attacks have been blamed on the alleged infighting in
the state after last Wednesday formally declared his intention to succeed
Governor Adams Oshiomhole in the September 10 gubernatorial election in the
state, under the All Progressives Congress.

Edokpayi called on the Commissioner of Police, Chris Ezeike,
to arrest and prosecute the political thugs without much ado as this ugly
situation portends danger for our nascent democracy.
He said it was on record that thugs invaded Oredo Local
Government Secretariat some weeks ago but the police had not arrested any
Edokpayi said that was even if the car of the Deputy
Commissioner of Police was attacked by the thugs who took over the local
“Agberotocracy should be pooh-poohed by all and sundry if we
are to move forward to Eldorado as a nation,” said Edokpayi.
