Abuja - No fewer than seven people have been killed in Benue following a deadly clashes between members of rival cults.
According to Punch, six students and a security operative linked to the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi were killed when cultists stormed a private hostel linked to the institution, shooting sporadically and turning the area into a battle field.
Believed to be a reprisal attack, the shooting is said to be in some way connected to the killing of a student within the area just a day earlier, Daily Trust reports.

Rosemary Waku, Head of Information and PR at the institution, confirmed the development, while stating that the corpses of the deceased have been deposited at a nearby morgue.
Waku explained further that the exact number of deaths has yet to be ascertained as police are still scoping the area to check if there are any more victims present.
