#Dasukigate: EFCC to quiz more high profile officials

31 January 2016, 07:06

Abuja – At least 16 military officers are set to be quizzed this week as investigation into the $2.1 billion arms scandal continues, Punch reports.

The $2.1bn  was meant for arms procurement under the immediate past administration of Goodluck Jonathan.

A source from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) said the Chief of Defence Staff, Air Marshal Alex Badeh (retired) and a former Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal MD Umar (retired) were among those who were set to be interrogated.
Those concerned would be required to appear before the commission on or before Friday.

The report indicated that more high profile interrogations would take place in the coming week.

This comes as reports on Saturday indicated that the EFCC had traced the sum of N4.75bn to a Diamond Bank account, owned by Silva McNamara Limited.

Gbolahan and Babajide Obanikoro, two sons of the former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, were discovered to be on the board of the company.
