Dasuki's trial adjourned to February 4

Abuja - The trial of Nigeria’s former National Security Adviser Sambo Dasuki has been adjourned till February 4, reports Daily Trust.

This followed his application for a stoppage of the trial.

Dasuki is facing charges of alleged diversion of $2.1 billion arms funds.

At the resumed hearing of the case on Friday, Dasuki through his lawyer, Joseph Daudu (SAN), in an application dated January 12 urged the court to discharge him or stay the proceedings due to the non-compliance to an earlier order of the court granting him bail.

But prosecution counsel Rotimi Jacobs (SAN) opposed the application on the grounds that by the provisions of Section 306 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA), no application to delay trial should be taken.

After listening to the submissions of both lawyers, Justice Hussein Baba Yusuf adjourned the case to February 4 for ruling.
