Dasuki's trial postponed to January

Abuja - Former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki, has challenged the application by the Government to revoke the bail earlier granted to him by the courts.

He is facing charges of corruption and illegal possession of firearms.

At the resumption of the trial at the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Tuesday, he Preliminary Objection against plans to revoke his bail.

He claimed the Government’s appeal to have the bail revoked disregarded an earlier order that granted him permission to travel abroad to treat his illness.

He thus appealed to Justice Adeniyi Ademola to dismiss the move.

The are two applications seeking to revoke the bail earlier granted to Dasuki by the court and another application seeking to stop the further execution of the order of the court directing that the passport of the accused person be released to him.

Judge Ademola has adjourned the trial to January 20 for the hearing of the preliminary objection.

Dasuki, the security advisor between 2012 and earlier this year, is on trial for allegedly stealing funds meant for the acquisition of arms for the military as well as authorizing phony contracts.
