In his New Year message, he said subsequently, the house would enhance legislative schemes to support government’s effort at guaranteeing peace, welfare and security of people in the state. He said to enhance economic growth and achieve higher standards of living in 2016, stakeholders must diversify the country’s economy.

“We must think of new revenue sources,” Igbuya said.

He pledged the legislature’s readiness to work with other arms of government to better the lives of citizens.

“Happiness of the people is the foremost objective of the current administration. The state is taking giant steps forward. Governor Ifeanyi Okowa is leading by building consensus on all issues,” said Igbuya.

The Speaker hailed the unity in the state.

“Whatever political or personal differences we may have, the love for the state should be a shared focus, enough for us to work hand-in-hand for its continued development,” he said.

“I thank God for His bountiful blessings for Delta State. I wish all Deltans a happy, peaceful and prosperous New Year,” he concluded.
