Delta priest impregnates 9 members of his congregation

06 February 2016, 19:02

Lagos - A reverend from the area of Umunede in Delta State has allegedly slept with many women in his congregation resulting in pregnancies in seven single women and two married women, Punch reports.

The priest, known only as Dukes, has been accused of seducing young girls in neighbouring communities before arriving in Umunede. Many of the congregation suggested that he uses “magical powers” or members’ blind faith in him in order to seduce the girls.

“The self acclaimed revenged uses preaching, choirs and organised youth fellowships to get young girls…That was what he did in Ute-Okpu, Otolokpo neighbouring communities before he moved into Umunede and he was driven away by the elders of the communities, he likes girls of 15, 16 and 17 years he sleeps with,” church member, Josephine Ogor said.

Investigations also revealed that married women started to go to the priest with their marital problems and he used his unique brand of advice in order to get them to sleep with him thus resulting in pregnancies.

“The man is fake, he uses magical powers to woo young girls he sleeps with, that was how we fell into his net, and our eyes were opened,” a victim said.

In response to the accusations, Reverend Dukes claimed they were untrue and that he was responsible for the pregnancies and that they were lies in a plot to kill him.

He was arrested by the Agbor Police Station after parents of some of the girls that he impregnated reported him but has since been granted bail. The police officers have said that they are still investigating the case.
