Delta state dissociates self from Biafra

01 June 2016, 16:57

Delta - The Delta State Government has distanced the state from the proposed Biafra Republic, reaffirming their belief in one and united Nigeria, Vanguard reports.

The Secretary to the State Government, Festus Agas, who disclosed the position of the state government urged the people of the state to remain law abiding and go about their normal business without fear.

Agas in the statement said; “we object in its totality, the inclusion of Delta State without our consent in the proposed Biafra Republic.

This clarification has become necessary to avoid any confusion or misunderstanding regarding the status of Delta State in the renewed Biafra agitation.”

News24 had reported about the meeting between President Muhammadu Buhari and some Southeast leaders at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The 18-man delegation, led by former Senate President Ken Nnamani, included All Progressives Congress (APC) National Auditor George Moghalu; Senators Ifeanyi Ararume and Osita Izunaso and former House of Reps member Sharon Ikeazor; former Executive Vice-Chairman of Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC) Ernest Ndukwe.
