Abuja - Parents have been urged to take
greater care of their children amid a prominent case of abduction and forced
The call by Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson,
comes after a local teenager (name withheld) was abducted in Yenagoa, the state
capital, and married off in Kano.
“(Parents and guardians must) be extremely vigilant,
especially in the monitoring of the activities of their children, with a view
to ensuring that, they do not fall victim to the antics of mischief makers,”

He applauded state security agencies for helping rescue
the 14-year-old victim.
Dickson, who also commended Kano State, Abdullahi
Ganduje, for his efforts, said security agencies had been sift and professional
in their response.
“The government and people of Bayelsa State will remain
eternally grateful to all those, who contributed in one way or the other in
giving the issue the desired attention,” the governor concluded.
The minor was abducted last year in August and rescued
earlier this week.
