Dokpesi escapes assassination attempt, aide killed

Abuja -  Raymond Dokpesi, Chairman Emeritus of Daar Communications narrowly escaped death on Saturday in what appears to be an assassination attempt, reports NewsDay.

However, a police detail, Sergeant Den Gaius of the FCT Police Command, attached to the him was not so lucky as he was murdered in cold blood by the armed assailants.

The assassins, numbering four trailed Dokpesi's vehicle in a Honda Accord car and accosted the occupants of the vehicle in front of Child Care and Awareness Clinic at No 7, Fez Street, Off Kumasi Crescent Wuse 2 Abuja at 2.30am.

Unknown to the gunmen, Dokpesi was not in the car.

The vehicle was taken Dokpesi's wife, Oluwatosin Dokpesi to hospital after she complained of serious stomach cramp according to Daily Post.

As soon as Oluwatosin Dokpesi alighted from the car and entered the hospital, the assailants attacked them.

They were asking the driver and sergeant about Dokpesi’s whereabouts.

The assassins were heard saying in Hausa that Raymond Dokpesi was not in the car.

They promised to still get him and kill him.

They then collected the handset of the driver and shot the sergeant thrice and made away with the AK47 of the sergeant.
