EFCC grills Jibrin for seven hours over budget padding

10 August 2016, 08:36

Abuja - The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has grilled the former Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Appropriation, Abdulmumin Jibrin, for seven hours over allegations of padding within the 2016 national budget.

According to a Naij report, the anti-graft agency has commenced its investigations into the allegations, which were first brought against embattled House Speaker Yakubu Dogara by Jibrin.

Reportedly arriving at EFCC headquarters at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Jibrin is alleged to have only exited the building at 5 p.m. following an intense questioning session conducted by operatives.

“Jibrin came to our office to honour an invitation. His petition was voluminous and we needed clarification. He submitted more documents before leaving. We told him that we could call him again at any time.

“Based on the allegations and documents he submitted, we will invite other lawmakers, especially Yakubu Dogara, and members of the appropriations committee,” stated an operative at the agency, Vanguard reports.

Jibrin is alleged to have since promised to provide more documentation to back up his claims.
