EFCC partners governors' wives to fight corruption

15 February 2017, 16:10

Abuja - The wives of state governors in the South West region are set to play a bigger role in the fight against graft.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) disclosed it will next week launch a programme to that effect, in Ikeja, Lagos State.

Other southwestern states are Ekiti, Ogun, Ondo, Osun and Oyo.

“Women are the first teachers our children know. We need our women to continue to teach us values of rectitude that will outlive them,” the anti-corruption agency state.

It added women had the innate ability to shape minds and attitudes.

“To this end, the EFCC, in collaboration with the offices of the wives of State Governors in the South-West will be engaging women in a discourse on the war against corruption and ways the rot can be stopped from home,”added EFCC ahead of the launch next Tuesday.

In December, EFCC collaborated with the wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, Aisha, to inaugurate her “Nigerian women against corruption”programme.
