EFCC pressuring me to implicate Goodluck Jonathan – detained cousin

25 April 2016, 08:29

Lagos – Former president Goodluck Jonathan’s cousin, who is currently detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has claimed that the commission is pressuring him to indict the former leader.

According to The Sun, Azibaola Robert said this through his brother, Faith Robert, during a press conference in Lagos on Sunday.

Robert, who is under investigation over an alleged diversion of $40 million through One-Plus Holdings and a sister company, Kakatar Con¬struction Limited, Claimed that the EFCC had told him to "say something to implicate" Jonathan or rot in their custody.

Robert was arrested in March.

A source within the EFCC revealed recently that former Jonathan could be arrested before May 29.

According to the source, the arrest of Robert, was a clear indication that "we are inching close to making former president Jonathan our guest".

Reports have indicated in the past months that the EFCC wants to question Jonathan regarding the arms deal scandal.

The EFCC initially disclosed that they would need permission from President Mughammadu Buhari in order to set the plan in motion.
