Abuja – Northern governors have been castigated over their position that the Fulani herdsmen should not be labelled as criminals.
According to Vanguard, The Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, asked the governors to bury their heads in shame over their position which came after the killings of over 20 people in Enugu state by suspected Fulani herd though they condemned the recent attacks, it was out of place by anyone to label all criminals as Fulani herdsmen.
The governors came out to in defence of the Fulkanis on Friday, saying even saying even though they condemned the recent attacks, it was out of place by anyone to label all criminals as Fulani.
Chairperson of the Northern States Governors Forum (NSGF) and Governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima, said it was an insult to consider criminals as Fulani.
He said: “We want to unequivocally condemn the recent killings in Enugu and other parts of the country. But we equally condemn the politicization or permit me, the ‘ethinicisation’ of the whole crisis,” the governor said.
