Ex-minister Abba Moro to be docked over fraud

29 February 2016, 08:30

Abuja - Former Interior Minister Abba Moro will be docked by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Monday on charges relating to his alleged duping on Nigerian job seekers.

According to a Premium Times report, the charges come as a result of Moro having been involved in a botched immigration recruitment exercise that saw the deaths of no fewer than 20 people across the country in 2014.

Moro is one of several officials who have been accused of defrauding 675,675 applicants of N676,675,000.

According to the EFCC, Drexel, the company under which the alleged scam took place, is accused of having violated the Public Procurement Act, No. 65 of 2007, due to the company having no prior advertisement and no needs assessment.

Drexel is also alleged to be unregistered and have no legal capacity to enter into recruitment contracts.
