Abuja - Federal Government has been requested to extend the
Presidential Amnesty Programme by former Niger Delta militants, Punch reported.
The militants who are under the aegis of Leadership, Peace
and Cultural Development Initiative made the request during a news conference
in Bayelsa State.

National President of the LPCDI, Reuben Wilson, states that
the extension of the programme will see beneficiaries who are studying abroad
to be able to have time to conclude their education.
President Muhammadu Buhari has been thanked for extending
the programme but the programme needs to be extended till 2019.
Nigerian politicians were warned to stop sabotaging the amnesty
programme because it causes unnecessary tension.
