Falae narrates how bullion van escort shot at his car

02 March 2016, 14:04

Lagos - A former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Olu Falae, has described how he escaped death after one of the policemen escorting a bullion van opened fire on his vehicle.

Falae said he was coming from Akure, approaching Ilesa when he saw some vehicles ahead of him with a bullion van in front.

He said the vehicles ahead of them were overtaking the bullion van and his car followed too, only for one of the policemen attached to the bullion van to shoot at his car.

The incident was said to have happened at Ile-Oluji Junction while Falae was travelling to Ile-Ife for Afenifere leaders’ visit to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi.

A complaint was made to the police at the checkpoint a Erin-Ijesa after the bullion van and its escort failed to stop according to the former presidential candidate and National Chairman of the Social Democratic Party.

Falae was recently abducted by some hoodlums on his farm in Akure and he was released after he had paid some amount of money as ransom to his captors.
