Fayose warns of reprisal attacks on herdsmen

23 May 2016, 07:28

Oke Oko - Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, warned of reprisal attacks on Fulani herdsmen if the invasions and attacks by herdsmen do not stop, Premium Times reported.

He described the Fulani herdsmen that invaded Oke Ako in Ikole local government area of the State on Friday, killing two residents of the town and injuring others, as “agents of the devil that must be fished out and punished accordingly.”

The tragedy, according to an eyewitness, occurred around 20:00.

One woman alleged that the herdsmen invaded the community in their numbers and brandished dangerous weapons like guns, bows and arrows, swords, machetes and hacked down the victim.

According to Punch, Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Kola Oluwawole, said “Fulani herdsmen have invaded communities to massacre their supposed hosts. Much as the people of Ekiti State remain friendly and receptive to visitors, we shall not condone unnecessary trampling on the rights of our people’.
