'Fearful' children beg Niger Delta Avengers to stop attacks

16 June 2016, 20:24

Niger Delta - Children in Delta State have appealed to the Niger Delta Avengers to put an end to attacks on oil installations in the region as well as being mindful that their actions could lead to a war, The Sun reports.

The series of bombings on oil pipelines have had a crippling effect on Nigeria's economy, with a scarcity of petrol being felt throughout the country.

The Avengers though have vowed not to spill human blood in the sabotage of oil installations.

The children as well as the inhabitants of the region however are fearful that many lives would be lost through provocation by the military seeking out the elusive militants.

News24 Nigeria previously reported that President Muhammadu Buhari has been warned about negotiating with the militants as it showed a sign of weakness.

The militants, however, have agreed and are set to open a dialogue with the Federal Government to reach a solution to end the attacks.
