FG reveals how it plans to detain Saraki, promises fair trial

Abuja - The Federal Government has stated how it plans to detain Senate President, Bukola Saraki and his deputy, Senator Ike Ekweremadu by giving them stringent bail conditions, Naij reports.

Saraki, his deputy and two other co-conspirators have been charged of two counts of forgery and conspiracy to commit forgery.

News24 Nigeria previously reported that the accused could be in for a tough time with the federal ministry of Justice set to ensure that they are given stringent bail conditions.

However the Federal Government has stated that Saraki and his deputy will be given a fair trial when they face their charges.

The government in a statement made it clear that it was not pleased with the Senate's interpretation of their actions as a way to cause a leadership change within the National Assembly.

Saraki is set to stand trial on forgery charges on 27 June.
