FG seeks bank's partnership to broaden economy

Abuja - The Minister of Budget and National Planning, Udoma Udo Udoma, has expressed the federal government’s desire to build stronger relationships with the Infrastructure Bank to enhance the diversification of the economy.

He disclosed the interest during a meeting with a delegation of the management of The Infrastructure Bank (TIB), led by its Chief Executive Officer, Adekunle Oyinloye, in Abuja.

Udoma said partnering the bank would create an environment for the private sector to thrive much to the betterment of prospects of diversifying the economy.

It is anticipated the bank would support projects in sectors has earmarked could broaden the country’s horizons from crude oil.

“There is need to put Nigeria back to work. This can only be achieved by increasing production in agriculture and encouraging small and medium scale enterprises,” the minister said.

Oyinloye meanwhile said the bank had been a partner with the former National Planning Commission (NPC) in the last two years and had been a key stakeholder in the implementation process and supporting the infrastructure related initiatives in the country.
