Fire guts petrol tanker, affects Lagos TV station

Abuja - Tragedy struck on Tuesday at the Lekki tollgate LGA of Lagos State after a truck suspected to have been laden with fuel burst into flames, Punch has reported.

The fire, which almost took the lives of seven people, broke out at approximately 2 p.m. while mechanics were attempting to fix an engine fault.

A spark was said to have caused the blaze, while firefighters from the Lagos Fire Service worked hard to extinguish it.

According to an official from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, no casualties were reported in the matter.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy TV station on Atere Street, Mushin was also said to have been affected by the blaze when one of their armour cables was gutted.

Rasak Fadipe, Director of the State Fire Service, confirmed the incident, saying that he had received no fewer than 16 fire calls on Monday and several more yesterday.
