Abuja - No fewer than five people are feared dead while two more were injured when soldiers clashed with villagers in the Bosso LGA of Niger State in the early hours of Thursday.
According to a Punch report, a combined team of soldiers and Nigerian Air Force (NAF) personnel were in the area to conduct an official operation when the clash occurred.
While traveling to the through the area checking for arms and ammunition, villagers mistook the security operatives for Fulani herdsmen and pounced on them, leading to death and injury.

In addition to the casualties, four vehicles belonging to the Nigerian Army were also destroyed in the fracas.
Major Njideka Agwu, Assistant Director of Army PR, confirmed the incident, stating that troops and field commanders are currently in the area conducting investigations into the matter.
