Forgery: Saraki, Ekweremadu 'may be handed stringent bail conditions'

23 June 2016, 21:00

Abuja - Senate president, Dr Bukola Saraki and his deputy Ike Ekweremadu are likely to be handed tough bail conditions ahead of next week’s planned arraignment over alleged Senate Rules forgery and Conspiracy, The Sun said on Thursday.

The two were set to be arraigned before Justice Justice Yusuf Halilu of the Federal Capital Territory High Court on Monday on a two-count charge of forgery and conspiracy to commit forgery.

A source within the Federal Ministry of Justice and Office of the Attorney General of the Federation reportedly said that it was most likely that the two would be given "stringent bail condition".

Also to be arraigned were a former clerk at the National Assembly, Salisu Maikasuwa and deputy clerk Benedict Efeturi, according to This Day.

The foru were supposed to be arraigned on Tuesday but the accused were not in court following claims that had not been served with court summons.
