Forgery Trial: Ekweremadu calls for US,UK intervention

29 June 2016, 06:31

Abuja - Deputy Senator, Ike Ekweremadu has sensationally called for international intervention from the US Congress, United Kingdom, United Nations, European Union Parliament and foreign missions in his forgery trial, Vanguard reports.

Ekweremadu in his pleas for help has said that Nigeria as a democracy is in grave danger.

The Deputy Senator along with Senate President, Bukola Saraki were arraigned on charges of alleged forgery for manipulating the 2015 Senate Standing Rules that saw the two men voted into power.

However Ekweremadu has now labelled these charges as an attempt by President Muhammadu Buhari's government to ridicule and rubbish a powerful institution such as the National Assembly.

News24 Nigeria reported that Saraki and his deputy, Ekweremadu were awarded bail under stringent conditions with the two lambasting the attempted attempts by powerful men to tarnish them as two law abiding citizens.

The trial has been postponed until July 11.
